When the Anxiety Isn't the Whole Picture
This is a real story from a Breakthrough client, shared with their permission. Some details have been changed to protect their privacy.
She came to Breakthrough for anxiety, overwhelmed by the weight of other people's expectations, especially at home.
As we explored what was happening, it became clear there was more sitting underneath the anxiety. She no longer recognised who she'd become and was carrying beliefs and voices she'd absorbed from others that no longer matched her own experience.
Through questions and exploration, she began to see her situation through a different lens and find answers that felt true for her. She built a better relationship with herself, recognising and appreciating strengths she hadn't given herself credit for.
The fear didn't need to disappear for her to move forward. She found she now had the ability to lean into it, rather than being run by it, and act anyway. That gave her more confidence, clarity and purpose in how she responded to situations.
Her relationships became easier too. She and the people closest to her found they were able to communicate in ways that hadn't been available to them before, with more room to actually hear each other.
She now has a stronger framework for making decisions across her life.
She still feels fear sometimes. What's different is that it no longer gets the final word.
