When Every Decision Feels Heavier Than It Should
This is a real story from a Breakthrough client, shared with their permission. Some details have been changed to protect their privacy.
She came to Breakthrough because she felt like she couldn't make decisions. Every decision felt heavier than it should, and the fear of getting it wrong meant she'd put things off until the very last possible moment, on top of everything else she was juggling as a mother holding down work and a household.
As we explored what was making decisions feel so difficult, she recognised a belief that she was the only one who could do things properly and that others couldn't be trusted to carry them out. In not trusting them, she wasn't giving them room to try. She also recognised how strongly she needed the outcome to look exactly the way she wanted it to.
Working through it, she realised these expectations were shaping far more of her life than just her decisions.
She began finding it easier to make decisions and trust others to take on tasks without needing to manage every detail herself. She also began loosening the expectation that everything had to be perfect.
With less pressure to get everything exactly right came more peace, trust and freedom in her choices.
